Zachary is the son of Annette and Matt Montgomery. Zachary, who is a senior at Desert Vista High School, carries a GPA of 3.93 (4.33 weighted) and a class rank of 107 out of 725 students. Zachary is a member of the Tempe All-City Football team for 2015 and Tempe All-City Wresting for 2014/15 and 2015/16. He was named to the National Football Foundation Lifetime Member First Team 2016 Scholar Athletes (Top 11 out of 286,000 students). In 2015 Zachary was named an Outstanding Scholar Athlete and an Academic Booster Club Scholarship Recipient.
Zachary, who will be headed to Colorado School of Mines next year on a football and academic scholarship. He has been a 4 year wrestler at Desert Vista, 2 years as a starting Heavyweight. In 2014/15 Zachary was named Big 15 Champion, and earned an AIA Wrestling Academic award of excellence. In Division I wrestling he has been an AIA State Tournament Placer, Sectional Placer and Sectional Champion as well as earned a Division I All-Tribune Honorable Mention Heavyweight. Zachary additionally earned the AIA Football Academic Excellence award in 2014/15. In 2016 he made the All-Tribune first Team as an Offensive Lineman, named to the Division I All-conference Honors First Team as an Offensive Lineman and Division I All-Conference Honors Honorable Mention as a Defensive Lineman.
Zachary is involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as a Selected Leader, and he has been a National Honors Society member for 2 years. He has volunteered to help with numerous groups including the Salvation Army, American Lung Association and Safety Town in Eugene, Oregon.
